vacation

Every since I was 12 years old, I've loved the Anne of Green Gables books. Since then, I've dreamed of visiting Prince Edward Island, home of Anne...er Lucy Maud Montgomery, the author of the said books. Of course,in the past, whenever I offered PEI as a vacation destination most looked at me with blank stares. Why go to PEI when there were choices like Vegas, Cape Cod, Paris or China? It looked like my dream to go to PEI would go unfulfilled.

Until now! Today I am off for my first (and probably only, as I don't think I will ever be able to cajole anyone to go with me again) PEI vacation. Grace of Green Gables, here I come!

Hey, I would go with you again! And I bet if someone put together a PEI writing retreat there would be a LOT of takers.

I went when I was a teen and loved it (I was already a big Anne fan then). I have strong memories of the red roads, the horse-powered seaweed harvesting, the oatcakes, and the glassbottle house. I hope you have a wonderful time!

Oh, how wonderful for you!!! I have wanted to go since I was in about fourth grade and learned that it actually existed (wasn't great with geography)....please post some pictures, especially Anne's statue, from your trip so we can vicariously travel there through you!!!

My hubby surprised me with a trip to PEI 2 years ago. It was amazing! You will have a wonderful time.

Oh, the red roads and beaches, the vibrant green grass, the bays of oyster traps.

I think my husband fell as in love with the Island as I did. He's thrown around the idea (and only half-jokingly) of moving there in the future. I can't wait to see your pictures. :)

Obviously you are not alone! I've wanted to visit PEI since I read Anne of Green Gables too. In fact, I'm totally jealous of you! I hope you'll report back with photos. :)

I am a huge LM Montgomery fan. One summer in high school, my friend sent me home with two shopping bags of books, all the Montgomery books I hadn't read yet. I sat on the couch all summer long. It was heaven.

Please, please pick up copies of Montgomery's journals. There are five. If you loved Anne, Emily, Pat, Storygirl, and all the others, you've got to get reading on these.

And you've got to drink some cordial while you're there! I feel sure that one of the tourist places offers it -- have some and raise a glass to -- but I better let my bossiness end there.
