not so crazy. have you ever seen some of maurice sendak's dummies ("where the wild horses are") or some of lane smith's "sketches?"i saw an artists dummy for a grsaphic novel once that was more beautiful than the finished book. some artists don't do things half way!
I don't think you're necessarily doing things half way if you don't make a really finished book dummy, its just a different way of working really. Every artist has their own process!
