What are you reading right now?

I'm in Montreal on vacation right now, so no new post, but thought I'd ask a few questions:

What are you reading right now? Have you read any "must read" books so far in 2010?

Okay, now go and discuss amongst yourselves!

And to answer my own question, what I'm reading right now are all of my Spring 2011 novels at various stages. They're due to go into copyediting at the end of this month. Eeek! Juggling juggling juggling...

I'm reading and enjoying "Idiot America: How Stupidity Became a Virtue in the Land of the Free" by Charles P. Pierce.

Must Read Children's Poetry Books Published in 2010:

- "Ubiquitous: Celebrating Nature's Survivors" written by Joyce Sidman & illustrated by Beckie Prange

- "Mirror Mirror: A Book of Reversible Verse" written by Marilyn Singer & illustrated by Josee Masse

- "Sharing the Seasons: A Book of Poems" selected by Lee Bennett Hopkins & illustrated by David Diaz

All three books have exceptional poetry and amazing illustrations.

I'm re-reading as usual...but at least this time re-reading something I've only read once, THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATOO. I love these books -- but warning: if you're expecting things to be all wrapped up by the end of the third book, you'll be disappointed. It's obvious that the author was planning a series and deliberately left some things hanging.

For those who haven't heard of this trilogy: the Swedish journalist author delivered the mss. for 3 books, then suddenly died.

The heroine is amazing and inspiring; the story kept me up all night (literally); and theSwedishness of the books was fun, too.

I also just re-read TOM'S MIDNIGHT GARDEN and was, as usual, in awe of how well-written it is.

Bleeding Violet , 8th Grade Superzero, Saving Maddie and The Last Summer of the Death Warriors. All must reads for 2010.

I can't believe it's only April, I feel like I've read so many great books already, how can the rest of the year hold up? (I'm confident that it will, there are many books I'm super excited for)

I've been struggling to find a book that I can get into - I've put several down after reading the first 50-100 pages. But then I picked up ACADEMY 7 by Anne Osterlund and I'm loving it! It so reminds me of Firefly.

Y: The Last Man, Vol 3: I'm getting into this one now. It's a graphic novel about all the men in the world dying, except one...

Unlovable Vol 2: this thing is hilarious! It's based on a diary from the 80s found in a gas station bathroom.

I'm reading "the Velvet Monkey Wrench" by John Muir. It's recently been republished but I found an original with the amazing cover illustration at Abe. It's an excellent read; an engineers view of how things ought to be.
