unique to RI

I added another page of interest to my website -- unique phrases/foods to RI.

Here's a sample:

If there are any RIers out there who know of other ones, let me know!

p.s - I know some of the terms are found elsewhere in the US

And "milk shake" -- in RI when you ask for a milk shake you get just that, literally: milk shaken up. I remember this one from college; a friend from the midwest saying when he was already home and it was too late:
"God damn Rhode Island!"

He should of course have asked for a CABINET.

What a fun page -- I'll try to think of more.

Really, they shook up the milk and that was that? I've never encountered that!

But you probably never asked for "a milkshake." Didn't you say "cabinet" or "frappe"?

PS Of course I was in college a long time ago! Maybe now RI is more mainstream.

But that did really happen.

I'll ask my parents since they grew up in RI. I've never asked for a frappe or cabinet, I always say "shake"

Maybe it was Amelia Bedelia who made that milk shake...

Heh. It probably was.
