this and that

I'm STILL working on my author's note. Wah. Really. Wah. I hope it will be done soon. After that i need to move on quickly to my next project with S&S. It's about how the current flag got all its stars. It sounds boring but I promise it's not!

So the storm was crazy here in NYC. Now plowed streets. No garbage pick-up. Lots of slushing through the snow and getting your pants and shoes wet.

If you know about the crazy stories of birds falling from the sky you'll find my video interesting:

While I was at my parents house all of these birds gathered. More than we'd ever seen before. It was crazy! Maybe there really is something happening with birds. I caught it with my ipod--what a great little device!

So I don't have anything special to talk about. I'm all over the place with this and that. I just have a lot of different things do deal with and I feel kind of nuts. For example: I got a speeding ticket and they couldn't print the thing out so they said they'd put it in the mail. Well the ticket took a month to come. I paid it. But apparently I paid it too late (not my fault - it's because it took a month for them to put the thing in the mail!) so now I'm going to lose my license if I don't pay a much bigger fine unless I answer a letter - but I only had a week to answer it and because of the holidays it didn't come in time! Everything is just crazy. And meanwhile I'm supposed to get the author's note done and be PAINTING a new book! PAINTING! i haven't even done the sketches!

LIFE JUST GETS IN THE WAY. It's not like going to work and then coming home. Freelance life is different.

I think the flag book sounds fascinating, not dull at all. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

Meghan, thank you for being honest in your posts about how freelancing isn't all butterflies & roses. Sometimes us 9 to 5-ers forget that things aren't always greener on the other side...and every job has its benefits & disadvantages...
